Empowerment project report
introduction
Following the earthquake that struck Syria and Turkey, which had major negative impacts on families in the region, the “Empowerment” project was launched in the city of Azaz. The project targets 100 affected families, and aims to provide social and psychological support through multiple programs directed at women, children, and adolescent girls.
Project goals
1. *Providing social and psychological support to affected families.*
2. *Enhancing life skills for children and adolescents.*
3. *Providing periodic food aid to beneficiary families.*
Programs offered
1. Women’s Support Program
This program targets 15 women from affected families, providing psychological support activities aimed at:
- - Promoting mental health.
- - Providing counseling and social support.
- - Organizing group support sessions.
2. Child Support Program
This program targets 65 children from affected families, and includes the following activities:
- Psychological support through individual and group sessions.
- Drawing and music activities to enhance artistic expression.
- Mind and intelligence games to develop mental abilities.
3. Adolescent girls’ support program
This program targets 20 adolescent girls from affected families, and includes:
- Psychological support sessions.
- Activities to develop life skills such as effective communication and problem solving.
Food aid
A food basket was provided to each beneficiary family at a rate of 100 baskets per month for the duration of the project, which is six months. These baskets include basic food items to support families' food security.
Closing ceremony
At the end of the project, a closing ceremony was organized to showcase:
- Project objectives and achievements achieved.
- How to monitor the long-term impact on beneficiary families.
- An exhibition of children’s drawings participating in drawing activities.
- Presenting the success stories achieved thanks to the project.
Support and cooperation
The project was implemented with the support of the French Foundation, which contributed significantly to achieving the project objectives and providing the necessary support to the affected families.
Conclusion
The “Tamkeen” project is considered a role model in providing psychological and social support to families affected by natural disasters, as it has contributed to improving the quality of life and enhancing the mental health of the beneficiaries.
